About Crux

Welcome to Crux Climbing Center! From experienced climbers to Austinites looking for a new workout option, Crux has something for everyone. This newest addition in N. Central Austin is stocked with bouldering, strength training areas, a yoga studio, locker rooms with saunas, a kids’ area, and a lounge space.

Crux is designed to be much more than a gym—it’s a place where you can form a community. We heard the call from our friends on the other side of the river to build a facility for them. Taking many elements members fell in love with, like the lounge space that gives you a great place to hang out with old friends or meet new ones after your workout. Friendly staff is always on hand to answer questions or help you out if you get stuck. We will have social events ranging from small, intimate community gatherings to huge fun celebrations all year long.

We’re excited to be a part of this Central Austin neighborhood, and we hope you’ll enjoy the atmosphere that we’ve built for you.

Story and Mission

The Austin climbing community was bursting at the seams and Crux decided to do something about it. After countless conversations with new and experienced climbers in Austin, the perfect facility was dreamed up to cater to the needs of local climbers. A major component of rock climbing is community, so they knew that whatever they made would have to combine impressive rock walls, dynamic bouldering areas, and state-of-the-art fitness spaces with a comfortable place for members to commune and collaborate.

The goal: To build a premier hub where Austin climbers could not only perfect their craft, but to create a space where they could gather as a community, learning from and teaching one another.

Several years later, and Austin came calling again to add a N. Central location. Led by Kevin Goradia and Grace Nicholas, Crux found the perfect location in the Highland neighborhood. Opening in 2020, this facility not only has bouldering, a yoga studio, climbing training, open gym fitness and fitness classes, a kids room, and lounge; but also a coffee shop and brewery nextdoor.

One of the best things about having local Austin owners is accessibility. Crux isn’t a big-box gym, so the staff actually hears what you have to say. Feedback is always welcome and is taken seriously, and you’re encouraged to let us know what you think about your new climbing home.
